Threads of Vernal

In my previous post "Embroideries of Spring" early this month, I now bring the continuation in "Threads of Vernal". 

Though Malaysia is a 2-seasons country, we sees the spring season quietly making itself known with blooms of flowers everywhere.

1. Frangipani - Floral aroma, fruity nuances. Different species offer slightly different scents, ranging from creamy-sweet in white varieties to spicier or citrusy notes in red and pink varieties
2. Moss Rose - a type of succulents, also known by other common names such as sun rose or Mexican rose. 
3. Creeping Zinnia - Sanvitalia
4. Lantana camara. It has several common names, including:  Common Lantana / Lantana / Shrub Verbena / Wild Sage 
5. Bougainvillea 
6. Marigold - comes from "Mary's gold, aromatic foliage 
7. Passion Flower - aromatic 
8. Periwinkle - Pink Periwinkle or Eose Periwinkle, known as Kemunting Cina in M'sia 
9. Ruellia tuberosa, also known as minnieroot, fever root, snapdragon root and sheep potato
Widely known as Madagascar Periwinkle, Rosy Periwinkle, Vinca, or Sadabahar in various regions. New arrivals to the planter boxes. 🤩

Seasons:
1. Vernal for Spring - from the Latin word vernālis. 
2. Aestival (or Estival) for summer , 
3. Autumnal for autumn/fall, and 
4. Hibernal (or Brumal) for winter

13 Nov : All of us got up before the crack of dawn only to read a message from Air Asia informing us that our 930am flight to Miri will be delayed to 11am+, then in the airport while waiting, we were informed it'll be delayed again to 1pm+. The twice delay messed up our plans in Miri. We were so tired upon arrival that we checked in to Jinhold Serviced Apartments and opted to eat in its in-house Mak Restaurant .  Too tired to do much we ordered pizzas, to our surprise it was good, so good we ordered them again on our stay before our trip back to Semenanjung. 14 Nov : Before we went to buy all the stuff for the program in Niah National Park (NNP), we went for a  dim sum breakfast. Embroideries of Spring

A Tapestry of Blooms For the past weeks I have seen more blooms from this tree species. The flowers have a fragrant smell and is one of my favorites.    Plumeria  is commonly known as  frangipani , highly aromatic and famous for its intense, sweet, and exotic fragrance. While Malaysia does not have the traditional four seasons, the period from March-May is often considered the "spring" season or the inter-monsoon season in terms of travel and weather patterns.  Other flowers are also busy blooming too... (Top) -  Bleeding-heart vine  (genus Clerodendrum thomsoniae of the family Lamiaceae), also known as   glory-bower ; or  bagflower . Native to tropical west Africa from Cameroon west to Senegal. It is an evergreen liana. Popular during the mid 19th century under the name " beauty bush ". Toxic to pets and human. Skin contact with the plant can also cause mild irritation or rashes. Dusty Boots & Archery | 11 Dec 2025

Today at archery class we downloaded a score sheet app which helps keep track of our marks during practice. I shot 5 ends (shoots) of 6 arrows each , for a total of 30 arrows , and achieved a total score of 261 points . This gives an average of 52.2 points per end and 8.7 points per arrow .   After a while, the arrows went every where, to the coach's dismay :D  Despite wearing an arm guard, the bowstring still hit my arm twice. :( 3 days later, the bruise is still colorful. The game is fun but not so whenever I sustain a bruise.  In the evening.... We took a walk at The Kota @ PJ in the evening. Was tempted to go for the Denai Forest but since its evening the thoughts of mozzies discouraged us.
